A19 is the successor organization to Dratfield Analytics Inc. which was acquired by Aol/Convertro after an exhaustive search of virtually every major marketing analytics firm.

Simon Dratfield, Archimedes 19 President, spent 21 years at Kraft, where he pioneered some of the first MMM programs. After Kraft, Simon led Ipso/ASI’s Analytic Group (ASIRAS), served as a Partner at the Hudson River Group and spent 15 years as Founder and President of Dratfield Analytics Inc. Following the sale of DAI to Aol/Convertro in 2016, Simon served as Convertro’s Chief Analytics Officer. Simon is known both for his in-depth strategic business insights and for his ability to find innovative ways to measure marketing programs where others could not.

Simon’s team includes marketing analytics and data science professionals with decades of hands-on experience.

THE LEGEND OF ARCHIMEDES.

Archimedes of Syracuse (c. 287 – c. 212 BC) is generally considered the greatest mathematician of antiquity and one of the greatest of all time. The most widely known story about Archimedes tells how he invented a method for determining the volume of an object with an irregular shape.

A votive crown had been made for the king of Syracuse who had supplied the pure gold to be used. The King asked Archimedes to determine whether some silver had been substituted by the goldsmith. While taking a bath Archimedes noticed that the level of the water in the tub rose as he got in, and realized that this effect could be used to determine the volume of the crown and therefore its density. The density would be lower than that of gold if cheaper and less dense metals had been added.

Archimedes was so excited by his discovery that he forgot to dress and took to the streets naked, crying “Eureka!” (meaning “I have found it!”). The test was conducted successfully, proving that silver had indeed been mixed in.
